Twitter states a new video from Trump doesn’t break the guidelines
On January 8th, Twitter permanently prohibited President Donald Trump, and proceeded to play whack-a-mole as he tried to dodge that restriction by using different Twitter accounts, each of which Twitter suspended in turn.
And yet less than a week later on, a Trump video has actually been posted on the official @WhiteHouse account delivering a new video speech The speech is not inflammatory– rather the opposite. It includes Trump denouncing violence, lawbreaking, and vandalism.

It consists of messages numerous may have hoped Trump would issue immediately during or maybe even prior to the attack on the US Capitol, to prevent the violence and the 5 deaths that took place.
Still, it’s very weird to see Trump’s face in a new Twitter video, thinking about such a video was among the inciting incidents that got Trump started the platform. Twitter initially got rid of that video due to a “risk of violence” before deciding it was too risky to enable Trump to retain an account at all … and yet he’s now able to release a video speech to Twitter from a different account. When Twitter banned Trump, the business informed us it would try to restrict using even government accounts like @WhiteHouse if Trump attempted to use them to evade his ban.
But Twitter informed NBC press reporter Dylan Byers that this does not constitute a restriction evasion at all.
” … demonstrably take part in restriction evasion or share material that otherwise breaches the Twitter Rules.” (2/2)
— Dylan Byers (@DylanByers) January 14, 2021
When we asked how this does not count as ban evasion, Twitter declined to comment.
