    TN schools to resume for classes 10, 12 from Jan19

    Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday announced that schools would reopen for trainees in classes X and XII throughout the State from January 19, as moms and dads in about 95% of the schools had actually requested for the resumption of physical classes.

    ” Approval is being approved for allowing not more than 25 students in each classroom and by abiding by the standards provided by the federal government. Hostels are likewise being enabled for those students,” Mr. Palaniswami said in a statement on Tuesday morning.

    The CM has advised the Health Department to provide vitamin and zinc tablets to improve the resistance of all these students. “I request the parents, teachers and the students to comply in the precautionary procedures being taken by the government to include the spread of COVID-19,” he appealed.

    The choice to resume schools for classes X and XII was taken based upon inputs received from District Collectors, public health and medical specialists and senior Ministers last year and likewise on the opinions received from parents between January 6 and 8 this year

    This is the third time the State federal government has picked resuming schools for classes X and XII since the COVID-19 lockdown was enforced affecting regular life since March last year.

    In September in 2015, the federal government decided to resume schools for classes X, XI and XII “on a voluntary basis” to look for assistance from their instructors from October 1. Nevertheless, the decision was ultimately delayed until a second decision in October to resume schools for classes IX, X, XI and XII from November16 Nevertheless, just a few days prior to November 16 the State government announced that schools for classes XI, X, XI and XII would not resume on the stated date after it analysed the feedback from moms and dads. It said a fresh resuming date would be revealed after taking the COVID-19 scenario into factor to consider.
