A day after former United States President Barak Obama’s memoir ‘A Promised Land’ made headings in India, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has actually blasted him for his comments on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Defending Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Raut questioned the latter’s knowledge about politics in India, adding that no foreign politician should make such remarks.

According to an evaluation of the book published in the New York Times, Obama, ‘He has a nervous, unformed quality about him, as if he were a student who ‘d done the coursework and aspired to impress the teacher however deep down did not have either the ability or the passion to master the topic.’

The remarks triggered a political row in India, with the Congress party protecting its leader.

Mentioning that political leaders in India will not say ‘Trump seethes’, the Rajya Sabha MP stated that the political discourse that followed Obama’s declarations was ‘horrible’.

‘ A foreign politician can’t give such viewpoints on Indian political leaders; subsequent domestic political discourse on it is distasteful. We won’t say ‘Trump is mad’. How much does Obama learn about this country,’ Raut stated.

On the other hand, BJP took this chance to criticise the Gandhi scion, who as Congress President have actually seen a series of election beats in the current past.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh stated, ‘Nothing more to go over on Rahul Gandhi’s Intelligence when huge figure like Obama has said everything. Rahul Gandhi should know now that the respect he was getting in India has actually turned international.’

Responding to such comments, Congress basic secretary Randeep Surjewala stated, ‘Might I humbly remind specific overzealous friends of the Media running a sponsored program that we do not talk about person’s views in a book. In the past, a Leader has been called ‘psychopath’ and ‘master divider’ by individuals and agencies. We didn’t acknowledge such comments.’

Tariq Anwar of the Congress said, ‘Obama and Rahul Gandhi should have satisfied quickly, probably 8-10 years back when he came here as United States President. To evaluate somebody in few meetings is difficult. Rahul Gandhi’s personality has changed ever since, he has actually acquired a great deal of experience.’
