‘Proposition on language in HC turned down’


Union Minister composes to Vaiko, who had actually raised the concern in Rajya Sabha in Dec.2019

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has composed to MDMK chief Vaiko, mentioning that the proposition for using local language in the High Court has not been accepted by the Supreme Court. On the problem of altering the name of the Madras High Court to the Tamil Nadu High Court, the Minister said that a case was pending in the Supreme Court.

He pointed out that a writ petition had been filed in the Supreme Court, requesting that the names of the numerous High Courts, consisting of the Madras High Court, be altered as per names of the States in which they are situated.
