The health and household welfare department issued a different set of standards for performing sample tests both under Fast Antigen and RT-PCR.
In a bid to augment the screening centers, the Odisha government on Saturday allowed personal hospitals, nursing houses and labs to carry out COVID-19 tests through Fast Antigen and RT-PCR methods, an alert released by the health and household well-being department stated.
The department issued a different set of standards for carrying out sample tests both under Fast Antigen and RT-PCR.
The private health establishments have to abide by the ICMR standards.
The sample test results ought to first be notified to the State authorities prior to being released to the person whose test was conducted, the notification stated.
For Fast Antigen tests, the private bodies can charge a maximum of 450 while the rate for RT-PCR tests is fixed at 2,200 per test. The assisted living home, hospitals and laboratories must be mandatorily registered under the Odisha Scientific Facility (control & regulation) Act, 1990.
The workforce to be released for the purpose should be trained correctly in assessment with the chief district medical and public health officers, the notice said.

For conducting RT-PCT tests, the personal screening laboratories must be accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Screening and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
