    Mumbai, Sep 16: To draw attention to his demand, an instructor threatened to end his life by jumping off the 4th flooring of MLA hostel here on Wednesday, but was rescued by the police after counselling in the middle of high drama that lasted for more than two-and-a-half hours, an official said.The event took location at Akashvani MLA hostel near Mantralaya (state secretariat) in south Mumbai this night.45 pm when the teacher, a local of Badnapur in Maharashtras Jalna district, was brought to security by a cops team after much persuasion, the main said.The 38- year-old had came to Mantralaya looking for release of grant by the state government for unaided schools to help with payment of incomes to instructors, he stated.

    To draw attention of the federal government towards his demand, he went to the fourth flooring of the MLA hostel and climbed on the parapet wall from where he threatened to jump if his need was not accepted, the official said.The cops were right away informed following which officials from the Marine Drive Police Station reached the spot along with an ambulance and two fire brigade vehicles, he said.

    Cops and fire brigade authorities began encouraging the instructor to come down and also assured that his demand will be checked out, but to no avail.After at some point, zonal DCP Sangramsingh Nishandar, an MLA and other authorities reached the spot and started convincing him to drop his strategy, said Mrityunjay Hiremath, Senior Citizen Inspector, Marine Drive Police Station.

    With the aid of fire brigade officials, the cops brought a net and also laid mattresses for safety in case he did dive, he said.The anxious-filled drama ended when the teacher gave up him plan and the cops rescued him, Hiremath said.
