India remains encouraging of the aspirations of Palestinians in their pursuit of statehood, peace and success, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said as he wanted the state of Palestine on their Declaration Day. On November 15, 1988, the Palestine National Council, the legal body of the Palestine Liberation Company (PLO), released the Palestinian Declaration.
The statement of Palestinian Declaration was made already Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat from Algeria, in which he specified that Jerusalem is the everlasting capital of Palestine. “Greetings to FM Dr Riyad Al-Maliki and the Federal government and people of the State of Palestine on their Declaration Day. India remains encouraging to the goals of Palestinians in their pursuit of statehood, peace and prosperity,” Jaishankar tweeted. In 1988, India became one of the first countries to identify the Palestinian State.
