The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday looked for an action from the State federal government in a public interest litigation petition that challenged the federal government order making e-pass obligatory for people taking a trip from outside the State to go into Tamil Nadu.
A Department Bench of Justices M. Sathyanarayanan and P. Rajamanickam ordered notification to the State and sought an action in the petition submitted by supporter S.P. Hariharasudhan from Theni.
Nevertheless, Tamil Nadu had made e-passes obligatory for people coming from other States and this was arbitrary, as it was not in consonance with the guidelines provided by the Centre, he said and looked for to quash the order.
