Exchequer being duped: Stalin
The final days of the present State federal government is being used by Ministers to defraud the exchequer, stated DMK president M.K. Stalin in Tiruvarur on Monday.
Attending to a ‘makkal gram sabha’, held by the DMK in Alivalanallur of Valangaiman taluk, Mr. Stalin stated not all those sporting a green towel could claim to be farmers. Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his Cabinet colleagues had actually not done anything for the upliftment of the farmers, he said.
While the erstwhile DMK regime implemented several plans to introduce success for farmers, the present federal government had destroyed their lives, he said. “Even now, the Chief Minister and his Ministers are attempting to defraud the exchequer, in the last 4 months of their guideline,” he said.
The DMK leader indicated the malpractice in the procurement of paddy and listed out what he described as the “corrupt practices” of Food Minister R. Kamaraj.
Mr. Stalin stated the existence of females, in large numbers, at the conference, had actually infused confidence in him that the DMK would romp home to a huge success in the Assembly poll.
Mr. Kamaraj, when requested for his response, cautioned Mr. Stalin versus making wild allegations against Ministers and offering them unsavoury epithets. “The Opposition leader must refrain from such practices; else we will not hesitate to pay him back in kind,” he included.
‘ Stopped working farmers, youth’
Later, dealing with a comparable conference in Padirikuppam panchayat in Cuddalore, Mr. Stalin said that farmers and youth remained in an unfortunate dilemma, with the State federal government not creating any specific plans for them.
” I do not question the Chief Minister and the Ministers’ visits abroad, but I would like to know what the function of these were. The Chief Minister said that the State had actually brought in investment to the tune of 1,90,000 crore in the last 10 years. But the truth is that the State has actually drawn in investment just to the tune of16,088 crore,” he said. [The government has denied this.]
Although an English magazine projected Tamil Nadu as top in advancement, the genuine picture is that the State monopolized simply the 19 th position in development, the DMK leader said.
Mr. Stalin said that youth and farmers were now annoyed, as no specific plans had been developed for their improvement.
He reiterated his charge that the Local Administration Department, headed by Minister S.P. Velumani, was steeped in corruption.
” Wait for four more months and the DMK federal government, after the Assembly polls, will relieve the people of grievances,” he stated.
