Donald Trump Orders Ban On WeChat Pay, Other “Chinese Apps”
Donald Trump on Tuesday bought a ban on WeChat pay.
San Francisco, United States:
United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday ordered a ban on Alipay, WeChat pay and other apps linked to Chinese business, stating they might route user info to the federal government in Beijing.
The executive order is to work in 45 days, weeks after Trump is replaced in the White House by President-elect Joe Biden.
It also follows previous executive orders targeted at prohibiting TikTok, which is owned by China-based ByteDance, were thwarted by court rulings showing Trump overstepped his legal authority.
