Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Wednesday that the Union Cabinet’s nod to acquire 83 indigenously-developed Light Fight Airplane (LCA) Tejas for the Indian Flying force will enhance the movement to develop an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).
In a major choice aimed at increasing the domestic aerospace industry, India on Wednesday authorized a much-awaited offer worth Rs 48,000 crore to acquire 83 Tejas for the Indian Air Force.
The choice to acquire the fleet was taken at a conference of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Modi. The prime minister tweeted, “Today’s Cabinet choice will enhance the capabilities of our armed forces, boost the native defence market and enhance the movement to develop an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
