Chennai Customs seize gold worth Rs 12 lakh concealed in footwear straps

In 2 different cases, Air Customs authorities seized 239 grams of 24 K pureness gold worth Rs 12 lakhs and Saudi Riyals, US dollars worth Rs 6.5 lakhs.
According to authorities, on Monday, Dubai returnee Mohammed Hasan Ali, 23, of Ramanathapuram had arrived via Emirates Flight EK544 He was obstructed by a Customs officer as he was hurrying through the green channel when his slippers took place to come off. The officer who tried to help pick his slipper discovered it to be unusually heavy.
