Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) President Chirag Paswan announced to separately contest the three-phase Bihar Assembly elections while being part of the NDA. However, Chirag has continuously been praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that he is devoted to Modi. The BJP, however, is not happy with this gesture and has objected to the election slogan of LJP and the use of PM Modi’s picture.

According to sources, the BJP does not want the LJP to use PM Modi’s picture in its posters and banners. The BJP has reservations about this. Party leaders believe that alliance with the LJP is at the Centre and not in Patna. The Bharatiya Janata Party is contesting the Bihar Assembly elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar of JD-U.

The BJP is also expected to move the Election Commission of India (ECI), requesting it to prevent the LJP from using PM Modi’s name during poll campaigning, revealed sources.

The BJP leaders have also clarified that only the alliance partners in the NDA would be allowed to refer to the Central schemes and policies of the Modi government during campaigning.

The stand taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party comes after Chirag’s out-of-turn announcement. The LJP leader a day earlier had announced a BJP-LJP government in Bihar and urged the voters not to waste their vote by supporting the JD (U) candidates.

Meanwhile, seat-sharing between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal United (JD-U) for the assembly elections in Bihar was finalised earlier today. The JD-U will contest 122 and BJP 121 seats. Jitanram Manjhi’s HAM party has been given 7 seats by JD-U from its quota, while the BJP will accommodate Mukesh Sahni’s VIP party in its given share of seats.

Voting in Bihar is scheduled in three phases, the first phase of polling will take place on October 28, the second phase is scheduled to happen on November 3 while the final phase will take place on November 7. Counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on November 10.
