The Tamil Nadu government has spent 7,16797 crore towards including COVID-19 and alleviating its impact on the public, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam notified the Assembly on Tuesday.
In his reply to a special calling attention movement moved by Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin, Mr. Panneerselvam (who likewise holds the Finance portfolio) said the panel headed by former RBI governor C. Rangarajan would quickly send its report.
The panel was made up to recommend the federal government on brief- and medium-term responses to COVID-19 in the State. Mentioning that austerity procedures were needed at this point in time, Mr. Panneerselvam elaborated on the various measures taken by the State federal government.
As the State federal government chose to freeze the dearness allowance for civil servant and pensioners for three half-years based on the Centre’s guidelines, it is expecting to save an approximated amount of 4,94723 crore during 2020-21
Another amount of 2,44882 crore is expected to be conserved throughout 2020-21, following its decision to momentarily freeze the payment over made leave of government employees, Mr. Panneerselvam stated.
Nevertheless, the Deputy CM maintained that the AIADMK government would continue executing people’s welfare schemes.
Mr. Panneerselvam added that the AIADMK federal government would carry out all the statements made by Ministers as well as the CM in the Assembly. He also highlighted the needs made by the Chief Minister to the Centre, pushing for funds to eliminate the pandemic.
